G2D1710: Electrical Design Engineer
An Electrical Design Engineer is required to join the busy design department at g2 Energy, an ICP who design and build upgrades or connections to the electrical network across a number of sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving company.
The position will report to the Senior Electrical Designer and is to be the contestable designer on specific projects. This will involve undertaking the electrical design, being responsible for compiling suitable contestable submissions, and to then see this through to gaining contestable approval and providing support to the end of the construction phase. This is mainly for 11 and 33kV projects as an ICP but electrical design will also be required for any contracted client side works or occasional client side only awarded projects. The contestable designer role will need to liaise with other civil, structural, protection and electrical design colleagues, other g2 departments, as well as with DNOs, clients, landowners and others where required. This role therefore gives an excellent opportunity for an individual to see a project through from start to finish and have exposure to all design elements.
The role is predominantly based at the Head Office close to Milton Keynes but occasional site visits on projects around the UK will be required as and where necessary.
The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience in undertaking contestable designs for electrical connections to UK requirements, be educated to degree level, be competent in the use of AutoCad and have good interpersonal skills. Additional skills which would be beneficial to the applicant would include Earthing design (ideally using CDEGS), Electrical Studies (P28, P29, G5/4 etc), Protection and AC/DC schematics knowledge, cable sizing/thermal calcs etc.
